How do I join?

PLEASE NOTE - membership years begin on August 1st of any given year. If you sign up on July 31st, you will be signing up for the previous year. Please sign up on August 1st to have your membership active for the current year.
I Have A Lifetime Membership Elsewhere. Am I A Member?
A Lifetime PTA Membership is an honorary award given out by a PTA in recognition for that person's contribution to a specific school. It unfortunately does not apply to Nelson Junior High.
Lifetime Memberships do not transfer to other schools.
Why Should I Join?
Being a PTA member includes a number of perks, and your contributions help provide amenities to not only your school, but the community at large.
Wait, You said something about Perks?
Yes, perks! By being a PTA member you gain access to significant savings for everything from travel to groceries to insurance and even electronics. Being a PTA member has excellent benefits!
Where do my funds go?
By simply signing up for the Nelson Junior High PTA, you are providing extra funding toward your child's school. It may not seem like a lot individually; however, at scale, your contributions really help make a difference for our teachers and school staff.
No, seriously, where do my funds go?
$6.00 of your $11.00 membership fee is sent to Austin, TX to the Texas PTA office. A portion of that $6.00 is then sent to the National PTA organization.
$5.00 of your membership fee stays entirely with Nelson Junior High and provides funding hospitality engagement with teachers and staff, school improvements and much more.
Dues Breakdown
$2.75 goes to the Texas PTA
$3.25 goes to the National PTA
$5.00 goes directly to Nelson Junior High
$1.50 processing fee (only if signing up online)
What is my commitment?
No commitment! If you sign up for a PTA Membership, your commitment is as much or as little as you prefer. If you wish to help with volunteering efforts, VIPS is where you would want to head next!
Wait, what is VIPS?
VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) is a critical program for our Texas schools. If you are looking to give some of your personal time back to assisting teachers with classroom projects, VIPS could use you! Donate as much or as little time as you prefer.

I don't have a student at Nelson Junior High
Anyone can be a PTA member! Each member pays the $12.50 fee and that's it! Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Community Members, students both current and former - ANYONE!
I Ordered School Supplies. Am I a Member?
Yes, you are! Each school supply kit automatically includes a PTA membership.
